President Sirleaf to Commission 38 Public Officials Friday, September 14
(MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Thursday, September 13, 2012) President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will on Friday, September 14, commission 38 additional public officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ C. Cecil Dennis, Jr. Auditorium.
Article 54 of the Liberian Constitution empowers the President of Liberia to nominate and, with the consent of the Liberian Senate, appoint and commission public officials to include Cabinet Ministers, Deputy and Assistant Ministers, Ambassadors, Consuls, the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court of Liberia, County Superintendents, among others.
According to an Executive Mansion release, some of the officials to be commissioned by President Sirleaf include: Ambassador Alhaji G.V. Kromah, Ambassador-at-Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ambassador Robert Y. Lormia, II, Ambassador-at-Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Honorable Charles E. Sirleaf, Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Liberia; Honorable Theophilus Tote Bettie, Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Liberia; Honorable Angela Cassell-Bush, Deputy Minister for Expenditure & Debt Management, Ministry of Finance; and Honorable Boom Menine Wilson, Comptroller & Accountant General, Republic of Liberia, Ministry of Finance.
Others are: Honorable Victoria Sherman Lang, Deputy Minister for Codification, Ministry of Justice; Honorable Sam G. Russ, Deputy Minister for Operations, Ministry of Lands, Mines & Energy; and Honorable Boakai A.M. Sirleaf, Deputy Director General for Operations, General Services Agency.
The ceremony, which takes place at 4 p.m., will also witness the commissioning of high-ranking officials of various security institutions. |
