Ambassador Samuel Othello Coleman, Sr.
The Coleman and Richards families regret to announce the passing of their loved one, Samuel Othello Coleman Sr. This sad event occurred at the Laurel Regional Hospital in Laurel, Maryland on Thursday, February 21, 2013.
The late S. Othello Coleman, Sr. was born unto the union of Samuel David Coleman and Etta Melvina Richards-Coleman on February 12, 1928 in Monrovia, Liberia. He leaves to mourn his loss his children, Kathleen Foster, Saundra Nelson-Owusu (Kofi), Kym Coleman, S. Othello Coleman, Jr. (Lydia) and Marian Kawei; twelve grandchildren, ten siblings, his uncle, Joseph G. Richards (Anna), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. “Chips” will be sorely missed.
A home-going service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the J. B. Jenkins Funeral Home, 7474 Landover Road, Hyattsville, Maryland 20785 from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. (Viewing from 3:30-4:30). Arrival of the body in Liberia is scheduled for Friday, March 15, 2013. The funeral service will be held at Bethel Cathedral of Hope, Tubman Boulevard, Congo Town, Liberia and interment in Clay Ashland at the Grace Episcopal Church.
